SO,WHOSE TOMB PICTURES ?????
The tomb on the photo’s are not the BLESSED one of our Prophet (salallahu aleyhi was salaam) but it is thetomb of Osman Ghazi, the first sultan of the Ottoman Empire and MAULANA RUMI(Turkey). And here is the proof : match these pictures..
And the state of the tomb in recent times:
What a pity that in many Muslim countries this tomb is presented as the tomb of the Prophet (salallahualeyhi sallam) and pictures are sold and are hanged into houses.
PS: The Prophet’s (salallahu aleyhi was salaam) has no tomb or sanduqa on it.
Al-Qadi ‘Iyad has reported from the major scholars that it is best to make a hump over the grave because Sufyan an-Nammar told him that he had seen the grave of the Prophet, peace be upon him, with a hump over it.” (Bukhari)

Ja’far bin Muhammad reported from his father: “The grave of the Prophet, peace be upon him, was raised one hand from the ground and was coated with red clay and some gravel.” This was narrated by Abu Bakr An-Najjad

PROPHET AL-YASA’A

Al-Yasa (pbuh) was appointed as Ilyas (pbuh) successor by Ilyas (pbuh) before he vanished into the protection of Allah. Ilyas (pbuh) had appointed him as the Prophet of Israel.

He inherited from Ilyas (pbuh) the inflexible king and queen of Israel. They refused to listen to any reason. Al-Yasa (pbuh) performed many miraculous deeds to prove to them the supreme powers of Allah. Instead they called Al-Yasa (pbuh) a magician. The king and Queen continued to defy his warnings, throughout Al-Yasa (pbuh) life. May peace be upon Al-Yasa.
What Quran said about him?

And Ishmael and Al-Yasa and Yunus and Lot. Each one (of them) did We prefer above (Our) creatures,[Surah Al-An'am (Chapter of Cattle), Verse 86]

And make mention of Ishmael and Al-Yasa and Dhu Al-Qifl. All are of the chosen. This is a reminder. And lo! For those who ward off (evil) is a happy journey's end, Gardens of Eden, whereof the gates are opened for them, Wherein, reclining, they call for plenteous fruit and cool drink (that is) therein.[Surah Sad (Chapter of Sad), Verses 48-51]

Prophet Sulayman (A)

Prophet Sulayman (A) was the youngest son of Prophet Dawood (A) and inherited him. Allah granted him the greatest kingdom that any king has ever ruled over. He had control over the wind and could use it do direct his throne through the air. Both men and jinn served him faithfully and he could order the birds to carry out his commands by speaking to them in their own language. As a result of these special blessings, Prophet Sulayman's (A) kingdom was very powerful and many countries were under its control. When the army of Prophet Sulayman (A) marched on a mission, it was an awe-inspiring sight. The Holy Qur'an describes one such episode as follows:
Sulayman's army consisting of men, jinn and birds were gathered together in his presence in ranks. When they arrived in the valley of the ants, an ant said (to the others), "O ants, enter your dwellings lest you are crushed by Sulayman and his army by mistake." (Quran 27:17-18)

Prophet Sulayman (A) heard the warning of the chief of the ants and asked it to come forward. He said to it, "Did you think that a Prophet of Allah would ever harm any of His creatures?" The ant replied, "No I did not, but I was worried that when my fellow ants would see the grandeur of your army, they would underestimate their own bounties from Allah and become ungrateful. It is for this reason that I asked them to hide out of sight."

One day Prophet Sulayman (A) noticed that his messenger bird, Hud Hud (a Hoopoe bird) was missing. The Holy Qur'an says:

And (Sulayman) inspected the birds and said, "How is it that I cannot see Hud Hud. Is he absent? I shall certainly punish him severely or slaughter him unless he has a good reason (for his absence). (Quran 27:20-21)

It was not long before Hud Hud appeared, saying,
"I have been to a country about which you may know nothing. The country is Saba (Sheba) and it is ruled by a woman who has complete control over her people. Her throne is especially grand. However, they all worship the sun and have forsaken Allah."

Prophet Sulayman (A) sent a letter to Bilqees, the Queen of Saba, saying, "In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent the Most Merciful. Do not rebel against me and come towards me in submission to Allah."

When Bilqees received the letter, she asked her ministers about their opinion on the matter. They replied that they had powerful armies and they were not afraid to go to war, but the final decision was in her hands.

Bilqees wanted to settle the matter peacefully so she sent her messengers to Prophet Sulayman (A) with costly gifts and waited for his reaction. When the representatives of Saba arrived in the kingdom of Prophet Sulayman (A), they were amazed to see the splendour of his buildings and palace.

Prophet Sulayman (A) welcomed them and asked for the reply to his letter. When they presented him with the gifts, he impatiently put them aside, and told them, "What are these riches? I have been given such bounties from Allah that are possessed by none. Return to your country and inform your Queen that I am sending such an army towards Saba that no one will be able to withstand."

When Bilqees received this message and the report about Prophet Sulayman's (A) power, she decided to submit herself before him and accept his invitation to embrace Islam. When Prophet Sulayman (A) learnt that she was coming to his kingdom, he turned to his people and said, "Who amongst you can bring me the throne of the Queen of Saba before she herself gets here?"

One jinn said,
"I will bring it before you rise from your place."
But Asife Barqiah, who had been taught the special Name of Allah by Prophet Sulayman (A), said, according to the Holy Qur'an:
Said he who had some knowledge of the Book, "I will bring it to you before your eye blinks", and when he (Sulayman) saw the throne settle beside him, he said, "This is by the Grace of my Lord so that He may test whether I am grateful or ungrateful... (Quran 27:40)

In preparation for the arrival of Bilqees, Prophet Sulayman (A) had ordered a palace of glass to be built. Under the glass floors, there was a pool of water with various kinds of fish swimming in it. When Bilqees arrived, he took her to the palace. The Holy Qur'an says:
She was told, "Enter the palace."; but when she saw it she thought there was a pool of water and bared her legs. (Sulayman) said, "Indeed this is but a place of glass." (She) said, "My Lord! verily I have been unjust to myself. I submit with Sulayman to Allah, the Lord of the worlds." (Quran 27:44)

Bilqees was fooled by the appearance of water and hitched up her dress to her knees to save it from getting wet. When she realised her mistake, she at once understood the subtle point that Prophet Sulayman (A) was making to her. He was showing her that things are not always what they seem, and even if the sun she worshipped was the most powerful force she could see, there was another, more powerful, Force behind it.

The intelligent lady understood the message and turned to Allah in repentance and faith.

Prophet Sulayman (A) then returned her to Saba and allowed her to rule in his name. Prophet Sulayman (A) ruled over his people with justice for a long time. His power extended across most of the known world. This unique blessing was in response to his prayer which is recorded in the Holy Qur'an:
He said, "O my Lord! Forgive me and grant me a kingdom such as shall not befit anyone after me, verily You are the Granter of bounties (without measure). (Quran 38:35)

Prophet Ilyas (A.S)

fter the death of Prophet Sulaiman (peace be upon him) his kingdom was dismembered. There was virtually the rule of Satan all around. The religious people were mocked at. The ruler of Somaria killed a large number of learned people. When the evil reached the saturation point, God sent the Prophet Ilyas (peace be upon him) to reform mankind during the reign of the king Ahab of Israel. He tried his best to save the people from polytheism. He forbade them to worship the Tyrian Bal. He advised the people to ward off evil and worship One God. When his efforts bore no fruit he suddenly appeared before the king and foretold him that severe draught and famine would overtake his kingdom. He added that the Tyrian Bal would be powerless to avert it. The people paid no heed to his warnings and did not mend their ways. The prophecy of the Prophet Ilyas (peace de upon him) turned out to be true and whole of the kingdom came under the sway of famine. The people began to starve. After three years the Prophet Ilyas (peace be upon him) supplicated to show mercy to the famine stricken people. They acknowledged the authority of God and felt penitence. Soon after the rain ended the draught and God lifted his curses After this he was directed by God to call upon al-Yasa to be his successor. The Prophet Ilyas (peace be upon him) did so in obedience to His command and disappeared mysteriously. The Holy Qur'an makes mention of Prophet Ilyas (peace be upon him) in the following Verses:

"And commemorate Ismail, Ilyas and Dhul Kifl. Each of them was the companion of the good." (38:48)

Prophet Ayub

The Prophet Ayub (peace be upon him) was one of the descendants of the Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and a nephew of Prophet Ya'qub (peace be upon him). He was sent to reform the people who lived in the desert situated in the north eastern corner of Palestine. When Ayub (Job) was chosen to be the Prophet, he started to teach the people about God and His religion. He advised the people to do good and shun evil. As usual with all the Prophets very few people believed in him in the beginning but gradually the number of his followers began to increase.

The Prophet Ayub was Well Off
The Prophet Ayub (peace be upon him) was a prosperous man with firm faith in Allah. He possessed vast farms, enormous wealth, many cattle and valuable property but these things did not make him arrogant. His wealth provided him with a medium by means of which he sought Allah's grace.
The Prophet Ayub Displays Patience
The Prophet Ayub (peace be upon him) was a pattern of humility and faith in Allah. He was very patient. He suffered from a number of calamities but did not utter a single word of complaint. One day his big farm was attacked by the thieves. They killed many of his servants and carried away forcibly all his cattle. The Prophet Ayub (peace be upon him) did not feel sorry at this loss and thanked Allah.

After some time the roof of the house fell down and many members of his family were crushed. The Prophet Ayyub (peace be upon him) was much shocked but he held fast to his faith in Allah. He neither shed a tear nor heaved a sigh. He prostrated before the Almighty. He remarked that possessions and children were the gifts from Allah. If He had taken His things, it was useless to lament over their loss.

After a few years Prophet Ayub (peace be upon him) suffered from skin disease. His parts of body were covered with loathsome sores. He had many ugly looking ulcers on his face and hands. The sores were full of worms. It is narrated that he picked up those worms which fell from his abscess and praised Allah for creating them.

Above all, his false friends attributed his calamities to his sins. They ridiculed and looked down upon him. All the persons deserted him with the exception of his faithful wife, Rahima. She also grew tired of him in the long run and prayed for his death. She cursed her husband for retaining integrity in Allah. When Prophet Ayub (peace be upon him) was in an extremely pathetic condition he prayed:
"Truly adversity has afflicted me and You are Most Merciful of all who show mercy." (Surah 21: Verse 83)

Allah accepted his prayer. The Holy Quran affirms:

"Then We heard his prayer and removed that adversity from which he suffered, and We gave him his household and the like thereof along with them, a mercy from Our store and remembrance for the worshippers." (Surah 21: Verse 84)

The Prophet Ayub Recovers and Prospers
Allah turned to him with mercy. He was commanded to strike the earth with his foot. He complied with the order and water from the spring gushed forth. He took a bath with the water and got cured from his evil disease. After this he was restored to prosperity. The Prophet Ayub (peace be upon him) knelt and prayed expressing a deep sense of gratitude to Allah. He never forgot His favours, mercy and love.

The Prophet Ayub (peace be upon him) was one of the celebrated Prophets. His example illustrates: that those who remain patient under the stress of all circumstances, are never deprived of high rewards. The Holy Quran affirms:
"And surely we try you with something of fear and hunger, and loss of wealth and crops, but give glad-tidings to the steadfast, who when a misfortune befalls them, say lo! we are Allah's (possession of Allah) and to Him shall we surely return. · Such are they on whom are blessings from their Lord, and mercy. Such are the rightly-guided." (Surah 2 : Verse 155-157)

Prophet zakariya

Zakariya (Zachariah) was an illustrious Prophet of the Israelites. He was one of the descendants of Prophet Sulaiman (peace be upon him). The name of his wife was al-Yashbi' who belonged to the family of Prophet Harun (peace be upon him). The Prophet Zakariya (peace be upon him) was the patron of Mary, the mother of Prophet Isa (peace be upon him). He was the trustee of Hekal. He worked as a carpenter and earned his livelihood.

The Prophet Zakariya (peace be upon him) kept the torch of Mosaic law burning. He used to pray devotionally and preach zealously. His wife and he were the symbols of piety and righteousness. Most of his kinsmen lacked in spirit of true faith. As they were seduced, they were inclined to doing evil deeds. They were going out of the right path. The Prophet Zakariya (peace be upon him) was much anxious about this state of affairs. He had no offspring and there was no suitable person to hold the office of priesthood of Hekal after his death. He was desirous of having a son to become his good successor. He did not long for a son to satisfy a mere human desire for one's progeny. He wanted to have a son to maintain the warmth of religious activities. One night he stood in prayer in his sanctuary and prayed to Allah to bless him with a good son. He was conscious that he was in an advanced age and his wife was barren and unable to raise any issue. He had full faith in Allah Who possesses power to do whatever He wills. He came to know through his prophetic insight that Allah would grant his request. He would be blessed with a good son to act as his heir who could guide the people aright.

God in His infinite mercy removed the defect of his wife's barrenness so that she might become mother. She gave birth to Prophet Yahya. (peace be upon him) who was destined to be honourable, chaste, and a prophet from among the righteous. The Prophet Zakariya (peace be upon him) felt satisfied as his son grew up and became a symbol of piety. He was graced with wisdom, obedience and asceticism.

The Prophet Zakariya (peace be upon him) continued preaching the religion of Allah even in old age. The Israelites were indulged in mischief making and wickedness. They had not only ignored the teachings of his Prophet but tortured him also. The Holy Qur'an makes mention of the cruel acts of the Israelites in the following Verses:

"As to those who deny the Signs of Allah and in defiance of right, slay the prophets, and slay those who teach just dealing with mankind, announce to them a grievous penalty." (3:21)

The Prophet Zakariya (peace be upon him) did not die a natural death. One day the Israelites decided to put him to death. He hid himself in the covern of the tree. The Jews began to saw that part of the tree. The Prophet Zakariya (peace be upon him) did not even utter a faint cry. His body was cut into two pieces.

Prophet Ishaq (a.s.)

These are the tombs of Ishaq (a.s.) (right) and his wife Rifaqah (left) and are directly over their graves which are below ground. These tombs are on the Muslim side, along with Sarah (a.s.), one of the wives of Ebrahim (a.s.). The tombs of Yaqub and Yusuf (a.s.) are on the Jewish side. Jews and Muslims are allowed to enter the others area for 10 fixed days in a year.
He was born when his father Ebrahim (a.s.) was 100 years old, his elder brother Ismail (a.s.) 14 years and his mother Sarah (a.s.) 90 years old. Allah (swt) mentions the glad tidings of the birth of Ishaq (a.s.) to Ebrahim (a.s.) in the Holy Quran in Surah As-Saffat:

“And We gave him the glad tidings of Ishaq, a Prophet, one of the righteous. And We blessed him and Ishaq. And of their progeny some are good-doers, and some are manifestly wrongdoers to themselves.” [37:112-113]

The Jews and Christians believe that it was Ishaq (a.s.) who was prepared for sacrifice by Ebrahim (a.s.) in the al-Aqsa Sanctuary in Jerusalem. The Islamic belief is that it was Ismail (a.s.), with the incident happening at Mina, in Saudi Arabia.

- According to the People of the Book, Ishaq (a.s.) married Rifaqah (Rebekah), daughter of Batwabil during the lifetime of his father. She was barren and he prayed to Allah for children. His prayer was answered and she gave birth to twin boys, Al-’Ays (Esau) and Yaqoob. The former is the parent of the Romans while the latter, also known as Israil, is the forefather of the Banu Israil (Children of Israel).

- When Ishaq (a.s.) grew old he lost his eye-sight. He passed away at Hebron at the age of 180 years.

Prophet idris

As a result of the efforts of the Prophet Sheth (peace be upon him) some people began to believe in Allah. As the time passed they began to worship the statue of their prophet. They became polytheists, irreligious and faithless. They adopted indecent ways of life. Under such circumstances Allah sent the Prophet Idris (peace be upon him) for the reformation and guidance of those who had gone astray. The Holy Quran makes mention of him in the following Verse:

"Commemorate Idris in the Book, verily he was a man of truth and a Prophet and We raised him to a lofty station." (Surah 19: Verse 56)

Preaching and Opposition
The Prophet Idris (peace be upon him) preached monotheism. He directed his people to abandon idol-worship. He emphasized them not to be captivated by the love of wealth and property. He advised them to abstain from drinking wine and other intoxicants. Only a few men paid heed to his teachings but majority of the people opposed him bitterly. The Prophet Idris (peace be upon him) did not lose heart and continued preaching with unshakeable constancy. He is appreciated for his firm faith and forbearance in the following Verses of the Holy Quran:

"All (Isma'il, Dhul-Kifl and Idris) were men of constancy and patience. We admitted them into Our mercy, for they were of the righteous ones." (Surah 21: Verse 85-86)

Migration to Egypt
In spite of untiring efforts the Prophet Idris (peace be upon him) could not attain considerable success and felt disgusted with the indifferent attitude of the public. He was directed to migrate to Egypt and settle on the bank of the river Nile. He preached the religion of Allah among various tribes and admonished them to be good and civilized. Consequently he brought about a remarkable change in the moral and social life of the people.
Some Sayings of the Prophet Idris
His lectures were full of admonition and good advice. Some of his sayings are given below:

1. Do not feel jealous of the prosperity of others.
2. He who has unlimited desires, is deprived of the wealth of contentment.
3. One should be sincere in acts of devotion.
4. It is an act of grave sin to take false oaths.
5. Patience is a key to victory.
6. He who controls his passions, is fortunate. Only a good act will be a living intercessor before Allah on the Day of Judgment.
7. One who is desirous of attaining perfection in knowledge, should have no concern with immoral acts.
The Learned Prophet
The Prophet Idris (peace be upon him) was born one hundred years after the death of Prophet Adam (peace be upon him). He was the first man who learnt to write. It is said that thirty portions of Allah's sacred scriptures were revealed to him. He was the inventor of the science of astronomy and arithmetic.
Death Event
The Prophet Idris (peace be upon him) was taken alive to Heavens at the age of 365 years. Ibn Jarir relates in Rauzatul Ahbab that the Prophet Idris (peace be upon him) was the special friend of one of the angels of heaven. The angel took him up into the heavens and when they arrived in the fourth heaven, they met the Angel of Death. The angel questioned the Angel of Death how many years there were remaining of the life of the Prophet Idris (peace be upon him). The Angel of Death said: Where is Idris because I have been commanded to end his life. The Prophet Idris (peace be upon him) then remained in the fourth heaven and he died in the wings of his angel friend who had taken him from earth. Mutwaslah was one of his distinguished son who made his mark.

Prophet Yahya (PBUH)

Yahya (John the Baptist) was the son of Prophet Zakariyya (peace be upon him). His birth was a miracle because. He was born of a barren mother and an aged father. In the fagging part of life Prophet Zakariya (peace be upon him) prayed to Allah to bless him with a son who could prove to be a successful heir and preacher of the religion of Allah. His prayer was promptly granted. The Holy Quran says:

"0' Zakariya! Lo! We bring you a glad tidings of a son whose name is Yahya. We have given the same name to none before him.'' (Surah 19: Verse 7)

The Prophet Yahya (peace be upon him) was dedicated to the noble work of leading men to the path of salvation. He exhorted his people to have unstinted faith in God. He moved among the humble and despised sofe raiment. He was not arrogant. He spent most of his life in wilderness. He was pure and devout. He was dutiful towards his parents. The Holy Quran says:
"(And it was said unto his son) 0' John! Hold fast the scripture. And We gave him wisdom when he was a child! And compassion from Our presence and punity, and he was devout. And dutiful towards his parents. And he was not arrogant, rebellious. Peace on him the day he was born and the day he dies and the day he shall be raised alive.'' (Surah 19: Verse 12-15 )

The Prophet Yahya (peace be upon him) moved to the desert of Judea. He dressed himself in a robe made of camel hair. He ate simple food and wild honey. His sermons were most impressive and people flocked to hear his trumpet message. The whole of the Jordan valley was baptized due to his preaching. The Prophet Yahya (peace be upon him) was the precursor of Prophet Isa (Jesus Christ). He was his cousin and contemporary as well. His fidelity to his mission as a preacher soon deprived him of his liberty and subsequently his life.

The Roman Ruler Herod Antipas was the ruler of Galilee. He had an adulterous relations with Herodias, the wife of his brother Herod Philip. The Prophet Yahya (peace be upon him) reproached him for this grave sin. Herod Antipas got annoyed and imprisoned him till his execution. Once Herod Antipas arranged a grand feast. Herodias allowed her daughter, Salome to dance.

The Ruler was fascinated with the performance of the dancing girl. He declared that he would grant whatever Salome wanted. She immediately made a demand for the head of Prophet Yahya (peace be upon him). Herod was in a fix what to do. He had no alternative to adhere to his words. So Prophet Yahya (peace be upon him) was beheaded at the instigation of the mother of that girl with whom Herod was infatuated. His grave is in Umayyah Mosque in Syria.

Prophet Dhu'l-kifl A.S

Dhul-kifl (peace be upon him) was the Prophet of Allah. The Holy Quran has made mention of him in the following two Verses:

And Isma'il and Idris and Dhul-kifl; all were men of constancy and patience. We admitted them into out mercy because they were of the righteous ones. (21:85. 86)

And remember Isma'il, Elisha and Dhul-kifl. Each of them was of the company of the good. (38:48)

Al-Baizawi says that he was so called because he had to do double the work of the Prophets of his time.

He is identified with Ezekiel of the Bible who was carried away to Babylon after the destruction of Jerusalem. He was chained and imprisoned. He bore all hardships with patience and continued reproving the evil sin the Bani Israel. Ibn Jarir, an interpreter has narrated an event which throws some light on his life. When Al-Yasa (peace be upon him) grew old, he wished to appoint a suitable person as his successor to guide the Israelites. He declared: Only that person will be considered competent to become his successor who observes fast during the day remembers Allah throughout the night and refrains from flying into a rage. One among the crowd stood up and said: (I will adhere to all these conditions. The Prophet Al-Yasa (peace be upon him) repeated these conditions thrice and the same person promised solemnly to fulfill the conditions. Thereupon he was appointed as a vicegerent.

After some time he was subjected to a trial. One day the Satan in the disguise of an old man knocked at his door. He was allowed to get in. The visitor lodged a complaint against the cruel treatment of the people towards him. The vicegerent directed him to come in the evening. He assured the visitor that all his grievances shall be redressed. He promised but did not turn up at the appointed time. Next day he came again and complained as usual. The vicegerent commanded him to come in the evening. He made a solemn promise to come but did not abide by it. On the third day he came again and knocked at the door but it was not opened. The Satan in the disguise of an old man managed to slip into the room and presented himself before the vicegerent. He was wonder-struck at the sudden appearance of the old man. The vicegerent interrogated the visitor. He admitted that he was Iblis who assumed the likeness of an old man and was trying to enrage him. He endeavored to make him back out of his promise but failed in his mission. Thereupon the vicegerent became known as Dhul-kifl because he maintained his solemn promise with the Prophet Al-Yasa (peace be upon him). He refrained from losing temper though the Satan left no stone unturned to annoy him. Soon after Allah chose him as His Prophet.

He commanded the Israelites to wage holy war against those who made mischief on the earth and opposed the religion of Allah. His followers, the Israelites refused to carry out his orders because they were afraid of death. As a retaliation for the utter disobedience of the Commandment of Allah and His Prophet, most of the people were overtaken by calamity. Plague broke out and numerous people died miserably. They deserted their houses in terror and ran away to save their lives. When they covered some distance, they heard a dreadful sound and the death prevailed over them. None remained alive to bury them. The corpses were putrefied in the scorching heat of the sun. The Prophet Dhul-kifl (peace be upon him) came out of the seclusion after seven days. He was overwhelmed with grief to see the predicament of his followers and supplicated: O' Allah! You have perished my followers. Take pity on them and give them a new life. Allah granted the prayer of His Prophet, the dead persons regained their lives. The Holy Quran Affirms:

Have you not thought on those who quitted their dwellings--and they were thousands for fear of death. Allah said to them: Die! Then He restored them to life, for full of bounty towards man is Allah. But most men give not thanks. (2: 280)

Afterwards the Prophet Dhul-kifl (peace be upon him) left his followers and migrated to Babylon. He died there.

THE PROPHET YUNUS (peace be upon him)

The Prophet Yunus (peace be upon him) is also addressed by two other surnames "Dhun-Nun" (Lord of the Fish) and "Sahibil-Hot" (Companion of the Fish). The Holy Qur'an says:

"And (mention) Dhun-Nun when he went off in anger and deemed that We had no power over him but he cried out in darkness, saying: There is no god save Thee. Be Thou glorified! Lo! I have been an evil-doer." (21: 87)

"But wait thou for thy Lord's decree and be not like the Sahibil-Hut who cried out in fear." (68 :48)

Yunus (Jonah) was the son of Mitta according to a Tradition quoted in Sahih Bukhari but the Torah states that his father's name was Amittai.

When the prophethood was conferred upon him, he was commanded to go Nineveh for preaching the true faith of God. Nineveh was situated on the right bank of the river Tigris. It was the capital city of Assyria. Its people were arrogant and conceited. They led sinful lives. The Prophet Yunus (peace be upon him) tried his best to reform them but they turned a deaf ear to his advice and warnings. Soon he began to feel disgusted. Consequently human frailty overpowered him. He flew into a rage and invoked Allah's wrath on the people of Nineveh. He became impatient and departed without waiting for further command from Allah. He imagined perhaps God had no power over him. The Prophet Yunus (peace be upon him) proceeded towards the sea and took a boat. Unfortunately the boat was caught in a storm. The sailors held him responsible for bringing misfortune to the boat. They decided to throw Prophet Yunus (peace be upon him) into the water but the passengers did not agree to their decision. Then lots were drawn and the name of Prophet Yunus (peace be upon him) came out. The Prophet Yunus was thrown into the sea for the safety of the boat. When Prophet Yunus (peace be upon him) fell into the water, a great fish with capacious belly drew him in. He was in extreme distress. He realised that he had to suffer for committing dereliction towards his duty as a prophet. Instead of running away he must have relied upon the power of Allah even in the most discouraged circumstances.

The Prophet Yunus (peace be upon him) felt penitence and supplicated to Allah in the humblest tone. His repentance was accepted and he was to be delivered ashore. He was provided with the shelter of a spreading plant. The Holy Qur'an relates this incident in the following Verses:

"And lo! Yunus verily was of those sent ( to warn). When he fled into the ladenship, then drew lots and was of those rejected, the fish swallowed him while he was blameworthy, and had he not been one of those who glorify Allah, he would have tarried in its belly till the Day of Resurrection, then We cast him on a desert shore while he was sick and We caused a tree of gourd to grow above him, and We sent him to a hundred thousand (folk) or more. And they believed, therefore We gave him comfort for a while." (37: 139-148)

When Prophet Yunus (peace be upon him) regained his health, he was commanded to go back to the same town and fulfil his mission of making the people give up their iniquitous life. Now the people of Nineveh repented and followed their Prophet. God showed mercy and they prospered remarkably. They got a new lease of glorious life. The Holy Qur'an says:
"When they believed, We removed from them the torment of disgrace in the life of the world and permitted them to enjoy their life for a while." (10:98)

Gradually the people of Nineveh again adopted evil ways of life. They indulged in idol-worship and debauchery. Eventually they were destroyed by the Scythians. The Prophet Yunus (peace be upon him) died in Nineveh and was buried there. According to the story of some of the historians his tomb is in the village Halmol about ten miles away from Hebron.

Prophet Isma'il (peace be on him)

Advent of Prophet Isma'il and Desertion by his Father:
The Prophet Isma'il (peace be upon him) was the eldest son of Prophet Ibrahim (peace he upon him) by his second wife Hajira. As he had no off-spring from his first wife Sarah, he entered into matrimonial allegiance with Hajira, a devoted lady. He did so with the consent of his first wife. The Prophet Ibrahim (peace he upon him) prayed to his Lord to bless him with a son. The Prophet Isma'il (peace he upon him) was born to him in response to his prayers. The Holy Qur'an makes mention of it in these words:

"Ibrahim said: My Lord! Grant me of the doers of good deeds. So We gave him the good news of a boy possessing forbearance." (37: 100, 101)

Shortly after his birth, in obedience to a Divine behest, he was left by his father Ibrahim (peace be upon him) along with his mother at the place where stands Ka'bah. It was a barren and waterless place with no trace of life in any form. The great Patriarch, Ibrahim (peace be upon him) left them to their fate with a heavy heart and prayed:

"O' Lord! I have made some of my off-spring settle in this barren valley near the Sacred House so that they may keep up prayer." (14: 37)

The scene of departing Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) from his family was highly pathetic. It is narrated on the authority of Ibn 'Abbàs that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: The Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) brought with him his wife Hajira and his son Prophet Isma'il (peace be upon him) whom she suckled. They placed the child close by the spot where Ka'bah now stands. In those days Mecca was uninhabited and without water. The Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) placed beside them a bag full of dates and a skin full of water. When Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) returned, the mother of Prophet Isma'il (peace be upon him) ran after him and said: Ibrahim! Where are you going? Why have you left me in the wilderness where none is to take pity on us. Nothing is available here to eat and drink. She repeated this several times but Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) did not hearken to her voice. Then she asked him. Have God Commanded you to do so? He replied in affirmative. She said: Then God will cause no harm to me. Thereupon she returned back. When Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) got out of sight, he faced towards Ka'bah and prayed: 0' Lord! Grant that the hearts of some men may be affected with kindness towards them and bestow upon them all sorts of fruit so that they may be thankful. After this the mother of Prophet Isma'il (peace be upon him) began to suckle her child and to drink water out of the skin until it was emptied. Soon after her son felt thirsty. She could not bear to see him in such plight. Hajira ran seven times from the hill of Safa to Marwa in quest of water. As she was about to commence the eighth trip, her attention was drawn to the crying child who in the agony of thirst was kicking the ground. Lo! the water gushed forth miraculously from the earth in the form of fountain to save Prophet: Isma'il (peace be upon him) from the tortures of thirst. Then she drank the water and suckled her child. May God bless the mother of Prophet Isma'il! Had she left the Zam Zam as it was or had she not filled her skin with water, the Zam Zam would always have remained an overflowing mountain. (Bukhari)
Trial of Sincerity:
The origin of the custom of true believers running between Safa and Marwa at the time of Hajj is deep connected with Hajira, the mother of Prophet Isma'il (peace be upon him). Similarly the rite of sacrifice also owes its origin to the Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and his obedient son. He had received a Divine Command to sacrifice his beloved son. Both of them stood the test with credit. The Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) decided to fulfil the vision on one hand whereas the Prophet Isma'il (peace be upon him) was ready with alacrity to lay down his life to win the favour and pleasure of Allah. While they were proceeding towards Mina for the performance of the solemn duty, Satan tried to dissuade them from their firm resolve but to no effect. The Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) passed the sharp knife over the throat of his son but an angel turned the knife upside down and a heavenly message forbade the act. The Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was desired to sacrifice in lieu of his son, a ram. So he slaughtered a well-fed ram presented by Allah. When the Prophet Isma'il (peace be upon him) grew up, he married a girl of the tribe but soon divorced her at the request of his father to whom she proved to be discourteous. After this he married a daughter of the Jurhum Chief.
Re-construction of the House of Allah:
Ka'bah is the veritable heart of Islam towards which all the prayers of the Muslims flow to vivify their souls. It was built by the Prophet Adam (peace be upon him), the father of the human race. When it was damaged by flood, it was reconstructed on the same foundations by the Prophet Ibrahim (peace he upon him) with the help of his son Prophet Isma'il (peace be upon him), the ancestors of the Arabs. The Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) directed his son to bring a good stone to mark the corner of foundation. He brought one of which the angel Gabriel gave him information. It was the sacred Black stone-Hajar al-Aswad. When the Prophet Ibrahim and Isma'il (peace be upon them) raised the foundations of the House of Allah they prayed:

"Our Lord! Accept from us; surely You are the Hearing, the Knowing. Our Lord! Make us both submissive to You and raise from our off-spring a nation submitting to You and show us ways of devotion and turn to us mercifully. You are the oft-Returning to mercy, the Most Merciful." (1:127, 128)

"Our Lord! And raise up in them an Apostle from among them who shall recite to them Your communications and teach them the Book and the Wisdom and purify them. Surely You are the Mighty, the Wise." (2: 129).

Mecca is Habitated:
The Prophet Isma'il (peace be upon him) and his mother settled down in the vicinity of the Ka'bah. His progeny multiplied and ramified into numerous tribes. One of these is known as the Quraysh from which the Ishmaelite Arabs sprang up. The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) belonged to this family. They habitated the city of Mecca which became the centre of Islam

Allah sent the Prophet Shu’ayb (as) to Madyan as a messenger. The Qur’an informs us that this was another nation that had no faith in Allah and caused corruption upon the Earth. Until the very last moment, the Prophet Shu’ayb (as) called upon this nation, which perished out of its insolence by a terrible scourge, to be the servant of Allah.

The immorality of non-God fearing people manifests itself at every moment of their lives. If we remember the nations we discussed in the previous pages, their peoples were such as had no feelings of shame; they had no fear of Allah, committed perverted deeds, sinned at every turn,—threatening and diverting people from the way of Allah—violated others’ rights and indulged themselves in their own personal interests. People in our day deserve to be censured for the same evils, for such perverted attitudes are common in the societies today. It follows that, everyone in modern times should benefit from these reminders.

One of the greatest shortcomings of the Prophet Shu’ayb’s(as) people was their lack of probity in their commercial practices. The Prophet Shu’ayb (as) warned them and reminded them that it would be more befitting to comply with his admonitions:

... “My people, worship Allah! You have no other god than Him. A Clear Sign has come to you from your Lord. Give full measure and full weight. Do not defraud others of their possessions. Do not cause corruption in the land after it has been purged of evil. That is better for you if you are true believers.” (Surat al-A’raf, 85)

These reprehensible attributes of the Madyan people are not unknown in the societies of today which are far removed from Allah's religion. Furthermore, deceit has become a common factor in business, dealings, for which reason the Prophet Shu’ayb’s(as) warnings to his people still apply to our day. Indeed, people nowadays need to conduct their business honestly, be ethical, keep order in the world and keep away from corruption. Otherwise, they should fear meeting an end similar to those of past nations. It follows that, the duty of believers is,—taking the example of Allah’s messengers—, to warn the societies in which they live.
The Prophet Shu’ayb (as) Declared

To His People That He Was A Messenger

Worthy Of Trust

Shu’ayb said to them, “Will you not fear Allah? I am indeed a faithful Messenger to you, so fear Allah and obey me. I do not ask you for any recompense for this. My reward is the responsibility of no one but the Lord of all the worlds.” (Surat ash-Shu’ara’, 177-180)

The Prophet Shu’ayb (as) Told His People

That What They Earn From Business Is

Better If It Is Halal (Lawful) Than

If It Is Haram (Unlawful)

The Prophet Shu’ayb addressed his people as follows:

" My people! Give full measure and full weight with justice; do not defraud your fellow men of their possessions; and do not go about the Earth, corrupting it. Allah’s reward is better for you if you are true believers. I am not set over you as your keeper.” (Surah Hud, 85-86)

An individual may well make a fortune through means that Allah has decreed unlawful. However, wealth and possessions acquired through such unlawful means never bring any good, happiness or peace to their owner. Moreover, he loses the benefit of what he has and can never attain what he aims at. More importantly however, the one who ignores Allah’s approval and commits what is unlawful is punished with the torment of Hell for all eternity, unless he changes this attitude before death comes upon him. Gains acquired through halal means, on the other hand, always bring good, for the path shown by Allah to people is the most beneficial and straightest one. For this reason, those who lead a life in compliance with Allah’s religion and live on halal transactions always benefit from doing so. Both in this world and the Hereafter, Allah grants believers bountiful blessings in return for their being meticulous in obeying His commands. In one verse, Allah describes the difference between lawful and unlawful gains:

What you give with usurious intent, aiming to recover a greater amount from others’ wealth, will not be blessed by Allah. But anything you give as alms for His sake shall be repaid to you many times over. (Surat ar-Rum, 39)

He Told His People Who Failed To Obey Him

That He Only Intended To Set Things Right

They said, “Shu’ayb, did your prayers instruct you that we should abandon the gods our fathers worshipped or stop doing whatever we wanted to with our wealth? You are clearly a forbearing, and rightly-guided man!” (SurahHud, 87)

As was the case with all other messengers, aware that he was only assigned to communicate Allah’s message and that it was Allah alone Who gave guidance, the Prophet Shu’ayb (as) answered his people as follows:

He said, “My people! What do you think? If I do possess a Clear Sign from my Lord and He has bestowed on me a gracious gift, I would clearly not want to go behind your backs and do something I have forbidden you to do. I seek only to reform you as far as I am able. Nor can I succeed without Allah’s help. I have put my trust in Him and I turn to Him in repentance.” (Surah Hud, 88)

The Prophet Shu’ayb (as) reminded them once again that he was Allah’s messenger. He called his people’s attention to the fact that the commands of the religion he brought were, in actuality, Allah's commands and that his sole purpose was to summon them to the right path. Indeed, as a messenger who fulfilled his duty, he was aware that success could not be attained unless specifically willed by Allah. He also reminded his people of this fact and declared that everything happened by Allah’s Will.
The Prophet Shu’ayb (as) Warned His People

Against Allah’s Scourge

The Prophet Shu’ayb (as) reminded his people about the blessings they enjoyed and commanded them to feel grateful to Allah for them. Moreover, he warned them that they would be punished unless they followed Allah’s commands:

And to the people of Madyan we sent their brother Shu’ayb. He said, “My people, worship Allah! You have no god but Him. Do not give short measure or short weight. I see you prospering, but I fear for you the punishment of a fateful Day.” (Surah Hud, 84)

This aside, Prophet Shu’ayb (as) also reminded these people about the end of those past nations who insisted on disbelief and stressed that they had also faced affliction, for they resisted their messengers, and warned them against a similar error:

"My people! Do not let your breach with me provoke you into doing wrong so that the same thing happens to you as happened to the people of Nuh, Hud and Salih; nor is it long since the tribe of Lut was punished. Ask your Lord for forgiveness and then repent to Him. My Lord is Most Merciful and Most Loving.” (Surah Hud, 89-90)

The Prophet Shu’ayb (as) Made His People

Aware Of Their Cruelty And Tyranny And

Stressed His Loyalty And Commitment To Allah

The haughty elders of his tribe said, “We will drive you out of our city, Shu’ayb, you and all your followers, unless you return to our religion.” He replied, “What, even though we are unwilling?” (Surat al-A’raf, 88)

Throughout history, all messengers of Allah were exposed to similar attacks by their disbelieving people. These nations denounced their messengers and their adherents for their devotion to Allah’s religion and made efforts to make them revert to their false religion. They even threatened them with exile unless they complied with them. The Prophet Shu’ayb’s (as) answer was clear:

“We would be false to Allah if we returned to your religion after Allah had saved us from it. We could never return to it unless Allah our Lord so willed. Our Lord encompasses everything in His knowledge. We have put our trust in Allah. Our Lord, judge rightly between us and our people with truth. You are the best of judges.’”(Surat al-A’raf, 89)

The words of Allah’s messenger quoted in the above verse are a clear sign of his resoluteness, which is exemplary for all believers. As the Prophet Shu’ayb (as) says, believers know that "Allah encompasses everything in His knowledge.” They are certain that no one can harm another or take advantage of them unless Allah wills, and therefore they put their trust in Allah whenever they are attacked. More importantly, they do not make the slightest compromise in complying with Allah’s commands.
The Prophet Shu’ayb (as) Declared That It

Was Allah Alone Whom One Needed To Fear

One of the most evident shortcomings of the idolatrous nations is that they fear other people or beings more than they fear Allah. They love them more than Allah or prefer their approval over Allah’s. The people of the Prophet Shu’ayb (as) were also the kind of people who failed to appreciate Allah’s grandeur. They felt no fear of Allah, yet they stood in awe of other people. For example, they even stated their wish to murder the Prophet Shu’ayb (as) but it was only their fear of the people around him which prevented them from doing so:

They said, “Shu’ayb, we do not understand much of what you say and we see you are weak among us. Were it not for your clan, we would have stoned you. We do not hold you in high esteem!” (Surah Hud, 91)

Indeed, it is Allah alone Who is Exalted in Might. He is also the sole One of Whom one needs to feel fear. Allah keeps control over every being and every occurrence. In the face of the threat made by his people, the Prophet Shu’ayb (as) also reminded them that Allah reigns Supreme.

He said, “My people! Do you esteem my clan more than you do Allah? Dare you turn your backs on Him? My Lord has knowledge of everything that you do! My people! Do as you think best, and so shall I. You will certainly come to know who will be punished and held up to shame and who is a liar. Wait if you will! I too am waiting.”(Surah Hud, 92-93)

As is the case with all other nations who rejected Allah's messenger and His commands, the people of Madyan brought Allah's wrath upon themselves while they were still in this world. This is related in the Qur’an as follows:

When Our judgment was carried out, We rescued Shu’ayb through Our mercy and those who believed along with him. A Great Blast overtook the evil-doers, and morning found them lying flattened in their homes as if they had never prospered there at all. Like the Thamud, gone are the people of Madyan. (Surah Hud, 94-95)

THE-PROPHET-LUQMAN-(AS)

We gave Luqman wisdom saying: “Give thanks to Allah.” Whoever gives thanks has much to gain. But if anyone is ungrateful, Allah is Rich Beyond Need, and Glorious. (Surah Luqman, 12)

The Qur’an mentions the Prophet Luqman (as) as a prophet who had been given wisdom. The Qur’an records the admonitions he gave to his son. For this reason, they are of great importance for us.

The Prophet Luqman (as) Admonished

His People To Shun From Idolatry

In the 48th and 116th verses of the Surat an-Nisa, Allah states that idolatry is a sin He will never forgive. The Prophet Luqman(as) also told his son that he should avoid idolatry, for it is a terrible wrong.

Luqman said to his son, counseling him, “My son, do not associate anything with Allah. Associating others with Him is an abominable sin.” (Surah Luqman, 13)

The Prophet Luqman (as) Declared That

Allah Is All-Pervading And That Man

Will Be Confronted With Every Deed

He Does, However Insignificant

“My son, even if something weighs as little as a mustard seed and is inside a rock or anywhere else in the heavens or Earth, Allah will bring it out. Allah is All-Pervading, All-Aware.” (Surah Luqman, 16)

The Prophet Luqman (as) Admonished to

Comply With Allah’s Commands,

to Exercise Patience and to be Resolute

"My son, say your prayers and enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and be steadfast in the face of all that happens to you. That is certainly the most resolute course to follow.” (Surah Luqman, 17)

The Prophet Luqman (as) Admonished To

Avoid Haughtiness

Do not avert your face from people out of haughtiness and do not strut about arrogantly on the Earth. Allah does not love anyone who is vain or boastful. Be moderate in your tread and lower your voice. The most hateful of voices is the donkey’s bray. (Surah Luqman, 18-19)

The Prophet Luqman (as) warned his son against growing arrogant, for Allah is the One Who is the Almighty and the All-Wise. Man is a weak and imperfect being, who is in need of Allah. Despite this fact, assuming arrogant manners, as if one possesses might and superiority of one’s own, and showing arrogance in one’s manner of walking and speaking is a reprehensible trait. One who adopts an ostentatious or arrogant manner becomes sinful in Allah’s sight and thus will be considered within the context of the following verse:

I will turn away from My Signs all those who are arrogant and unjust so that if they see each and every Sign, they shall not believe in it. If they see the path of right guidance, they shall not walk upon it. But if they see the path of error, they shall take it as their path. That is because they denied Our Signs and paid no attention to them. (Surat al-A’raf, 146)

Arrogant people rely on their intelligence on every matter; they esteem their own principles and value judgments more than anything else. They resist one who communicates to them Allah's message, and treat him disrespectfully, although he maybe a prophet. Indeed, from the Qur’an we know that one of the major common features of the prominent people who challenged the prophets was arrogance.

The Prophet Luqman (as) stressed two subjects in his admonitions about arrogance: the tone of voice and the manner of walking. What is striking here is that Allah has communicated one of His commands by means of one of His messengers, the Prophet Luqman (as).

THE-PROPHET-LUT-(AS)

We gave right judgment and knowledge to Lut and rescued him from the city which committed disgusting acts. They were evil people who were deviators. We admitted him into Our mercy. He was one of the righteous. (Surat al-Anbiya’, 74-75)

The people of the Prophet Lut (as) are among the most depraved people mentioned in the Qur’an. As related in the following verses, these people were sexually deviant and used to waylay and attack people.

Lut said to his people, “You are committing an obscenity not perpetrated before you by any other nation. You lie with men and waylay them on the road and commit depravities within your gatherings”. His people’s only reply was: “Bring down upon us Allah’s punishment, if you are telling the truth.” (Surat al-’Ankabut, 28-29)

And Lut, when he said to his people, “Will you persist in committing an obscenity not perpetrated before you by any other nation? You come with lust to men instead of women. You are indeed a depraved people.” (Surat al-A’raf, 80-81)

[Lut said to his people,] “Of all beings, do you lie with males, leaving the wives Allah has created for you? You are a people who have overstepped the limits.” (Surat ash-Shu’ara’, 165-166)

Lut said to his people: “Do you approach depravity with open eyes? Do you come with lust to men instead of women? You are a people who are deeply ignorant.”(Surat an-Naml, 54-55)

The Prophet Lut (as) called his people, who were deviant in all senses, to live for the cause of Allah and be people of moral excellence. However, they obstinately insisted on disobedience and did not agree to desist from the wicked deeds they were wont to commit. Despite the obstinate disbelief of his people, however, the Prophet Lut (as), like all messengers of Allah, tried hard to guide them and summoned them to the path of Allah without ever becoming disheartened by the attacks and aspersions of these corrupt people.

As Allah relates in the above quoted verses, the Prophet Lut(as) described to his people the evil deeds they did and called upon them to adopt a virtuous life style which would please Allah. However, as many disbelievers have done throughout history, Lut’s people did not obey their prophet and tried to deflect him from the true path by casting aspersions on him.

These insolent people threatened him with expulsion from their land and dared to mock at the physical and spiritual purity of the prophet and the believers who obeyed him. The Prophet Lut (as) expressed his reaction to these people who insisted on disbelief and disobedience although he repeatedly called upon them to tread the true path:
He [Lut] said, “I am someone who detests the deed you perpetrate.” (Surat ash-Shu’ara’, 168)

As this verse maintains, despite the persistence and excessiveness of his people, the Prophet Lut (as) acted according to the commands of Allah and called upon people to do the same resolutely. He said that he would not be pleased with any act displeasing to Allah, and that he would do anything to prevent such acts.
The Prophet Lut (as) Summoned His

People To Fear Allah

The Prophet Lut (as) first informed his people that he was a faithful messenger whom Allah entrusted with communicating His message and that he did not want any wage in return fordoing so. He also admonished them to fear Allah:
... “I am a faithful Messenger to you. So fear Allah and obey me. I do not ask you for any wage for it. My wage is the responsibility of no one but the Lord of all the worlds.” (Surat ash-Shu’ara’, 161-164)

One needs to fear Allah in the true sense in order to be able to fully comply with the kind of morality with which Allah is pleased. One who fears Allah does not knowingly persist in anything which would displease Allah. If such a person makes a mistake unintentionally, he corrects his wrong action as soon as he sees the truth. He spends his life in a way that would please Allah and can, therefore, hope for a good life both in this world and in the Hereafter. Therefore, all messengers, including the Prophet Lut (as), warned their people to fear Allah.
The Prophet Lut (as) Warned His People To Act

Rightly And To Be Ashamed Of Their Behaviour

When his people persisted in their disbelief, Allah sent angels to the Prophet Lut (as) to give him the news of the punishment that He would inflict on them. His people, who took the angels for men, ran to the Prophet Lut (as), and he had a dialogue with his people as follows:
When Our messengers came to Lut, he was distressed for them, for he was powerless to offer them protection. He said, “This is indeed a dreadful day.” His people came running to him excitedly—they were long used to committing evil acts. He said, “My people, here are my daughters. They are purer for you. So fear Allah and do not shame me by insulting my guests. Is there not one rightly-guided man among you?” They replied, “You know we have no claim on your daughters. You know very well what it is we want.” (Surah Hud, 77-79)

As seen in the above quoted dialogue, the people of Lut, who did not fear Allah, had lost their sense of shame to such an extent that they could openly express their depraved desires. This is certainly a natural outcome of irreligion. This distorted pattern of behaviour is prevalent also in today’s societies which have distanced themselves from religion, and it is not regarded as odd. That is because it is religion that instructs man in what constitutes good morals, and what is regarded as right or evil. The conscience of people who have no fear for Allah and are out of touch with religion, becomes deadened. Such people are partly or entirely deprived of such attributes of moral excellence as shame. Aware that this ignoble suggestion of his people was a consequence of irreligion, the Prophet Lut (as) advised them to fear Allah and told them not to dishonour him before his guests.

The verses below convey the conversation between the Prophet Lut (as) and his people, when the messengers came to the family of Lut:
The people of the city came, exulting at the news. He said, “These are my guests, so do not put me to shame. Fear Allah and do not dishonour me.” They said, “Did we not forbid you to play host to strangers?” He said, "Here are my daughters: Take them if you are bent on evil.” By your life! They were wandering blindly in their drunkenness! So the Great Blast overtook them at the break of day. We laid their turn in ruin and rained down on them stones of hard-baked clay. There are certainly Signs in that for the discerning. They were beside a road which still exists. There is certainly a Sign in that for true believers. (Surat al-Hijr, 67-77)

As we have seen, those who did not answer the calls of the Prophet Lut (as) and persisted in their perverted morality were afflicted by a terrible scourge in this world. This is only the punishment they received in this world; the requital they will face in the Hereafter will be even more severe.

THE-PROPHET-YA’QUB-(AS)

And remember Our servants Ibrahim, Ishaq and Ya’qub, men of true strength and vision. We purified their sincerity through sincere remembrance of the Hereafter. They shall dwell with Us among the righteous whom We have chosen. (Surah Sad, 45-47)

The Prophet Ya’qub (as) was of the descendant of the Prophet Ibrahim (as). Allah made the Prophet Ibrahim (as) and each one ofis sons leaders. They summoned the people to accept what was good and right guidance. This is related in the Qur’an as follows:

We made them leaders, guiding them by Our command, and revealed to them how to do good actions and perform prayer and give alms, and they worshipped Us. (Surat al-Anbiya’, 73)

The Prophet Ya’qub (as) Dedicated His Sons To

Complying With The Just Religion And To Being

Among The Good

In the Qur’an, we find the verses relating to the Prophet Ya’qub’s (as) communication of Allah’s message in the Surat al-Baqara. The Qur’an mentions the Prophet Ya’qub’s (as) will (as) follows:
Ibrahim directed his sons to accept the true faith, as did Ya’qub: “My sons! Allah has chosen this religion for you, so do not die except as Muslims.” (Surat al-Baqara, 132)

Breathing one’s last as a Muslim is one of the important prayers of people who fear Allah. An individual may well one day swerve from his faith and return to evil,—although he had faith and engaged in good deeds until then—and thereby become one doomed to Hell. While the Prophet Ya’qub (as) advises his sons “not to die except as Muslims”, he warns them against this danger and recommends that they keep their faith intact, without changing their sincere intentions and resoluteness. His sons, who complied with their father’s will, declared that they would worship Allah and submit themselves to Him:
Ya’qub said to his sons, “What will you worship when I have gone?” They replied, “We will worship your God, the God of your forefathers, Ibrahim, Isma’il and Ishaq—the one God. We are Muslims who have submitted to Him.” (Surat al-Baqara, 133)

The Prophet Ya’qub Advised His Sons

To Trust In Allah

He said, “My sons! You must not enter through a single gate. Go in through different gates. In no way can I save you from the might of Allah, for judgment comes from no one but Allah. In Him I put my trust, and let all the faithful put their trust in Him alone.” But when they entered as their father said, it did not save them from the might of Allah at all, yet a need in Ya’qub’s soul had been satisfied. He had knowledge which We had taught him, but most of mankind simply have no knowledge. (SurahYusuf, 67-68)

When the Prophet Ya’qub (as) advised his sons to be cautious while entering the city, he also reminded them of a very important fact: that they should put their trust in Allah rather than in precaution. That is because, unless otherwise willed by Allah, a man can neither harm himself nor do himself any good. He can neither prevent anything that is fated to happen to him nor can ensure his own well-being. A believer does everything that needs to be done in order to earn Allah’s approval and takes every sort of measure that needs to be taken. However, he definitely knows that the result is ultimately at the will of Allah and He trusts only in Him.

THE PROPHET ‘ISA (AS)

And We sent ‘Isa son of Maryam following in their footsteps, confirming the Torah that came before him. We gave him the Gospel [Injil] containing guidance and light, corroborating what was revealed in the Torah that came before it, and as guidance and admonition for those who fear Allah. (Surat al-Ma’ida, 46)

The Prophet ‘Isa (as) was one of the messengers to whom Allah revealed a book. He (as) was born to the world without a father. This is one of the miracles in his life. Right from the time of his birth on, the Prophet ‘Isa (as) was given a number of miracles to perform. The Qur’an informs us about the creation of the Prophet ‘Isa (as):

‘Isa is like Adam in the sight of Allah. He created him from earth and then He said to him, “Be!” and he was. This is the truth from your Lord so do not be among the doubters. (Surah Al ‘Imran, 59-60)

The Prophet ‘Isa (as) Informed Us That He Was A

Servant Of Allah And His Messenger When Hews

Still In The Cradle And Spoke Of The Blessings

Given To Him

While he was still in the cradle, the Prophet ‘Isa (as) worked a great miracle by starting to speak. The Prophet ‘Isa (as) communicated to the people around him his status as a messenger:

He said, “I am the servant of Allah, He has given me the Book and made me a Prophet. He has made me blessed wherever I am and directed me to be steadfast in prayer and give alms to the poor as long as I live, and to show devotion to my mother. He has not made me insolent or arrogant. Peace be upon me the day I was born, and the day I die and the day I am raised up again alive.” Such was ‘Isa, the son of Maryam. That is the whole truth about which they are still in doubt. (Surah Maryam, 30-34)

The Prophet ‘Isa (as) Informed His People

About The Purpose Of His Being Sent As

A Messenger

One of the most important features of the societies living distant from Allah is that they are unable to come to terms with one another; they are in constant conflict and fail to reach a consensus.

Because their moral understanding is not based on fear of Allah, this conflict applies to almost all issues. Allah sent His messengers to these nations in order to settle the conflicts between them and to guide them to His religion. The Prophet ‘Isa (as) also made known the purpose of his being sent as a messenger to his people. This is related in the Qur’an as follows:

And when ‘Isa came with the Clear Signs, he said, “I have come to give you wisdom and to clarify for you some of the things about which you have differed. Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” (Surat az-Zukhruf, 63)

The Prophet ‘Isa (as) Admonished His

Disciples To Fear Only Allah

The Prophet ‘Isa’s (as) disciples were those who declared that they had faith in Allah and that they were with Allah’s messengers. However, they later asked the Prophet ‘Isa (as) to work miracles and asked, “Isa, son of Maryam! Can your Lord send down to us from heaven a table spread with food?” (Surat al-Maida, 112) No one should need a miracle to believe, for Allah's existence is an obvious fact. Prophet ‘Isa (as) therefore, answered this wish of his disciples as follows:

… “Fear Allah if you are believers!” (Surat al-Ma’ida,112)

However, when they said they needed it so that their hearts could be at peace, the Prophet ‘Isa (as) then called upon Allah and asked for a table:

They [the disciples] said, “We want to eat from it so that our hearts may be at peace and to know that you have told us the truth and to be among those who witness it.” ‘Isa son of Maryam said, “Allah, our Lord, send down to us from heaven a table spread with food to be a feast for us, and for those who will come after us, and as a Sign from You. Provide for us! You are the Best of Providers!”(Surat al-Ma’ida, 113-114)

The Prophet ‘Isa (as) Gave The Good Tidings

Of A Messenger Who Would Come After Him

As is known, the prophet who was sent after the Prophet ‘Isa(as) was the Prophet Muhammad (saas), whose other name was Ahmad. The Prophet ‘Isa (as) gave the good news of this succeeding prophet:

“Tribe of Israel, I am the Messenger of Allah to you, confirming the Torah which came before me and giving you the good news of a Messenger after me whose name is Ahmad…” (Surat as-Saff, 6)

The Prophet ‘Isa (as) Summoned His People

To Believe In Allah And Be Servants To Him

As with all the other prophets, the Prophet ‘Isa (as) also told his people about Allah’s existence, that He was the Creator of everything, that He was exalted above anything associated with Him, that He was the Possessor of all beautiful names, and that He was the All-Powerful and All-Just. And like all other prophets, he summoned his people to fear Allah and to worship Him.

“I come confirming the Torah I find already revealed, and to make lawful for you some of what was previously forbidden. I have brought you a Sign from your Lord. So fear Allah and obey me. Allah is my Lord and your Lord so worship Him. That is the straight path.” (Surah Al ‘Imran,50-51)

“Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. This is a straight path.” (Surat az-Zukhruf, 64)
